Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly: your name, email, and address details during registration. When you list or borrow an item, we store transaction details, booking histories, and uploaded photos. If you list items or borrow with a deposit, we also store your UPI ID (to receive payments and deposit returns) in a private record that only you can read, plus the UPI reference numbers you or the other party enter to record a payment. We never see or store card details, bank-account details, or your UPI PIN — payments happen in your own UPI app. We also collect limited usage data (pages visited, feature usage) to improve the platform.
How we use your information
Your information is used to: verify your flat and identity, facilitate listings and bookings, guide and record payments and deposit returns between users (RentiGo does not hold funds), send booking notifications and chat messages, show your public profile to other RentiGo users, and improve platform features. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Identity verification
To verify who you are, you may upload a photo of your Aadhaar card, PAN card or driving licence, or scan the QR code on your Aadhaar. A photo is read automatically by text-recognition software on our servers and by Google's Gemini AI service, and is deleted as soon as the check finishes (it is kept only if a person must review it, and then only until they decide). An Aadhaar QR (scanned live, or read from a photo you give us) is checked against UIDAI's digital signature; a QR photo is read in memory on our server and is not stored or sent to any other service. We do not keep your document number: we store only a keyed, one-way fingerprint of it (so one ID cannot verify two accounts), the last four digits, the name printed on the document, and the date and method of verification. You give your consent before every check, and you can ask us to delete this information by emailing support@renti-go.in.
Sharing with third parties
We share limited data with: Supabase (secure database and authentication infrastructure), Google (its Gemini AI service reads identity-document photos you submit for verification, as described above), and other RentiGo users (your name, flat number, approximate location used to sort items by distance, and rating are visible to signed-in users). Your UPI ID is shown to a renter only after you, as owner, approve their request, and to an owner only when a deposit return to you is due — solely to complete that payment. We do not share your phone number, email, or full address with other users.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Transaction records are retained for 7 years for tax and compliance purposes. You may request account deletion at any time by emailing support@renti-go.in — we'll delete your profile and listings within 30 days.
Your rights
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion of your account and associated data, object to processing, and download a copy of your data. To exercise any of these rights, email support@renti-go.in. We respond within 14 days.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We use analytics cookies (opt-in only) to understand how the platform is used. You can manage cookie preferences in your account settings. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit via TLS 1.3. Our database (Supabase) uses Row Level Security to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We conduct security reviews quarterly and promptly address any vulnerabilities.
